rsatility as a Director of Photography; he is comfortable and capable of creating strong, memorable imagery no matter what the requirements (or limitations) of a shoot.
Tom's technical prowess is incredible, his knowledge of lighting techniques is extensive and his comfort and familiarity with cameras (including the Red Scarlet and Red Epic W, Canon C300 and C100, Sony FS7 and others) is excellent. Tom is a calm, focused presence on set; always open and available to me as director, and a strong, patient guide for his team.
Tom has a lot of experience working on independent and mid-sized budget projects, which means he is always open to pitching in to get the job done, and knows how to work quickly (sometimes I can't believe how much he is able to accomplish in a short time on set) and still get superlative results. Tom has zero attitude, and is adept and experienced at building positive relationships with all his collaborators, and in the case of corporate or commercial shoots, is awesome with clients. He also comes to his role as DP with a high awareness and understanding of story, and the choices he makes are in service of telling a great story and creating the most powerful connection with the viewer.
