Editor, System Administrator
The Exhibits Editor, Post Production System Administrator is responsible for editing video programming, and for maintaining the Avid post production system including administrating the Interplay digital archive system for the Film and Video Production Department at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The Editor, Post Production System Administrator works closely with IM staff to deliver innovative and high quality video projects on time and on budget.

Core Responsibilities

Essential Editing Functions

Advanced post-production skills, including editing, compositing, and effects
Responsible for editing video products for exhibits, educational programs, public relations, and marketing
Responsible for operating all aquarium video/audio capture hardware at an advanced level
Responsible for following and executing production schedules
Responsible for operating all aquarium post-production hardware and software at an advanced level

Essential System Administration Functions

Responsible for administrating the Avid video archive, Interplay, and Nexis
Responsible for performing all routine maintenance on the Avid post production hardware and software
Responsible for coordinating with vendors to implement the latest Avid software releases and performing updates as needed
Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting video editing hardware and software equipment
Responsible for overseeing all Avid / post production support issues
Responsible for establishing and maintaining system protocols, and clearly communicating them to other video production staff

Absolutely Required Skills / Knowledge / Ability / Experience or Education

BA/BS in related field
Minimum 7 years' experience in a professional video editing capacity
Advanced familiarity with post production environments utilizing shared storage and LTO
Advanced familiarity with field production, audio recording, and audio engineering
Advanced skills with editing hardware and software, including Avid Media Composer, Interplay, and After Effects
Advanced knowledge of video encoding for web use and computer-based video playback equipment
Proven ability to skillfully operate professional video production equipment in a wide range of configurations and applications
Excellent communication skills
Strong inter-personal skills
Must work well with clients, staff and interns
Must maintain a positive work style and work effectively on a team
