How you'll make an impact:

JOB DESCRIPTION
*** Nation is seeking a dynamic, experienced Freelance Producer to join the live team. As the Freelance Producer, you are a self-starter with excellent editorial skills who can create compelling content for the *** audience! The ideal candidate is a seasoned writer who is detail-oriented & excellent under pressure. As a Freelance Producer, you will conduct in-depth research, write live scripts, and pitch compelling segments. The Freelance Producer must have prior live-show control room experience.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Pitch guests, stories, and segment ideas
Write guest intros, anchor questions, and teases
Select elements such as sound, video clips, and graphics to tell a story
Build accurate and constantly evolving research packets
Oversee all aspects of productions including story research, scriptwriting, field shoots, obtaining archival video, and managing rights and clearances
Coordinate with other departments throughout *** such as legal, finance, graphics, marketing, field production, and *** relations
Book guests and conduct both on and off-camera interviews

**** YOU **** NEED

5+ years of professional experience in a live television control room at a news organization, production company, or documentary company
Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience
Strong and accurate writing
Line producer experience
Thorough knowledge of current events and politics
Ability to travel when required
Excellent communication skills
Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced creative environment, working both independently and as a part of a team
Ability to think creatively and develop new and interesting approaches to storytelling
Willing to work nights, and weekends when needed

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $35.10-47.12 per hour. We provide Freelancers medical/dental/vision insurance and 401k after they meet eligibility criteria and any State required time-off, in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
