We are in the process of opening up a new stage in Los Angeles and are looking for a local crew to call upon when the need arises. These gigs have the potential to fall on nights and weekends. Live Bash operates in a fast-paced, live-broadcast environment so the ability to think on your feet is a must.

We are looking for Technical Directors to technically execute our clients’ vision through informed camera positioning, camera movement, shot composition, and stage blocking. This role will serve as a critical function within the live production environment and report directly to the Director of Production.

The Technical Director should possess an excellent understanding of live video production, and will be responsible for the troubleshooting and maintenance of production equipment including, but not limited to:

Blackmagic ATEM switcher / control panel
vMix software,
Cerevo LiveShell.X encoder
AJA KiPro recorder
Canon CR-N300 and CR-N500
SKAARHOJ PTZ controller
Responsibilities for the Technical Director include:

Delivering a dynamic, and engaging video line-cuts of each performance on the Live Bash stage.
Creating custom experiences based on individual client needs. May require quick turnarounds
AV file management - to ensure efficient editing between LA and Chicago teams
Providing in-depth technical support during programs and events
Solving production issues related to camera, signal flow, or rack/control equipment as they occur in the live setting.
Routing and distributing video signals throughout the Live Bash facility.
Qualifications:

3+ years experience directing/technical directing programs for live broadcast and/or events, specifically performing arts.
3+ years experience in broadcast engineering, AV systems integration, or similar roles.
Experience with both SDI-based and IP-based workflows
This position will be contracted on a freelance basis, at a rate of $50/hr.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

LIVE/TAPED PRODUCTIONS

Set up and operate production switchers and all associated technical equipment in a Production Control Room and/or Live Location environment during live game and/or studio broadcast productions. Orchestrate control room set up while simultaneously evaluating and assigning all video inputs taking into consideration timing and video levels.
Collaborates with the Director and Producer to execute the technical and artistic vision for each live game and/or studio production.
Lead the technical portion of the production team during the production set up and coordinate the faxing of their equipment and show elements since their equipment and work passes through the production switcher.
Collaborate with A1, V1, and other production entities needed for the technical fax to verify all video and audio signals are routed correctly and making it to their final destinations.
During a live game and/or studio broadcast productions recall video sources, transitions and effects and route studio monitors as instructed by Show Director. Continuously monitoring all sources used during the production to ensure all video levels look correct and stay in timing which include external feeds (NBATV Arena Link/Satellite/Bonded Cellular/Etc.)
Must be able to handle the pressures of live programming and limited time constraints

COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION

Work closely with the Technical Operations and Production (BEST) Engineering to identify, troubleshoot, and solve technical problems for Live Location, PCRs and Studio productions. Making sure each problem is resolved to completion.
Collaborates with Production (BEST) Engineering, Technical Operations and Production Management to identify and special order any equipment needed for live game and/or studio broadcast productions.
Effective communicator across teams

PLANNING RESPONSIBILITIES

Creates documentation on switcher builds, effects builds and set up of the switcher for each broadcast production

Qualifications & Experiences:

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
