New Style IP (as it's coined in Maryland) was not my first job in entertainment production, but it was the first full-service production company that allowed me to be a part of every phase in production. From meeting clients to the premieres of their films, New Style Independent Pictures provided me a place to spread my wings, filtering my interests and then honing my talents. Operating mostly as a production coordinator during preproduction and either a camera operator or DP during production, I was able to work with clients and production team from concept to shoot. Preproduction involved a lot of face time, to really understand and know New Style IP clients and build something unique to their vision. When transitioning into Camera Operation, it was my duty to handle both creative and technical aspects of the job: off-loading media, encoding, editing, and preparing video for various formats - be it internet and streaming or theatrical releases. List of duties: - talent coordination, training and showing freelance associates the ropes and ethics of New Style IP - office work, including documenting and storing files digitally - editing and sound design - working with clients and developing content that helps coincides with their needs and vision - equipment transport - talent transport - script coverage and breakdown for scheduling - strategizing post production schedule - coordinating collaborative projects - creative content development and uploading to YouTube and Vimeo - maintaining call sheets, cost reports, calendars and schedules, and other paperwork - financial review and analysis - creating experimental works - coordinating meetings and conference calls - creating comfortable work environments that encourage creativity and exploration - writing and editing scripts - lighting design - set design - and many, many other duties
