Overview
The primary role of the Assistant Editor will be to organize, sync and transfer footage for Vice News, Vice Studios and all other Vice LOBs from ingest to edit and final delivery.
The Assistant Editor is proficient in Adobe Creative Suite with a working knowledge of media-management, transcoding best practices, ftp and file based media transfers as well as general post-production workflows. The applicant should have technical mind as well as strong organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
- Ingest and backup of a high volume of video rushes in a wide range of formats from cards, cameras, drives and MAMs
- Transcoding media to editable formats and correct frame rates.
- Setting up project files, syncing camera footage and audio, and organizing projects for multiple editors.
- Making footage selects and labeling B-Roll. Exporting footage for translation when needed.
- Creating transcripts and shot logs, music cue sheets.
- Downloading and transcoding Archival footage.
- Rendering out graphics from provided graphic templates.
- Adjusting existing graphics to fit editing and technical specifications
- Blurring and stabilizing shots. Making changes to credits and graphics when needed.
- Real time watch down of all exports to ensure there are no technical errors.
- Encoding and uploading final deliverables to multiple platforms
Experience:
- 1-2+ years experience as post coordinator and/or an assistant editor.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Needs to have superior knowledge of media formats, SD cards, CF cards, SxS cards, video codecs, Adobe Creative Suite, etc
- Able to work in a fast paced News environment and be able to effectively multi-task.
- Proven flexibility and ability to work night and weekends, if required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong inter-personal skills
- Ability to deal with changing priorities
- Experience delivering content to digital and network specifications.
