Seeking a talented and motivated Assistant Editor to join our post-production team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for the craft, and be proficient in Adobe Premiere alongside the Adobe Creative Suite applications. The Assistant Editor will support the editing team in various aspects of post-production, ensuring smooth workflow and timely delivery of content.

- Work with the lead Assistant editor in all aspects of Post.
- Manage and organize media assets, ensuring all footage is properly labeled and stored.
- Perform basic edits, including cutting, splicing, and sequencing footage.
- Adjust and integrate graphics, effects, and other visual elements using Adobe After Effects if needed
- Collaborate with producers, editors, and other team members to ensure the final product meets the show's high standards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Adobe Premiere
- Assist in the creation of promotional materials and social media content as needed.
- Handle other post-production tasks as assigned.

Job Description

Your New Role...

Responsible for developing new ideas, working with writers, and interfacing with editorial counterparts at publishing houses and interfacing with other members of the publishing community. Works independently to edit projects.

Your Role Responsibilities...

Develops, edits, and manages a list of approximately 10-15 titles per year with minimal supervision from Sr. Editorial staff.This includes: providing line and overarching edits to authors; writing detailed plot and character outlines for ghostwritten and development projects; writing and editing cover and promotional copy; maintaining author and publisher schedules.
Pitches and develops story and property ideas, from one-liners to full plot treatments. Development goal is to sell 4 original projects per year.
Initiates and maintains relationships with writers (for existing and new projects), editors, publishers, and agents.
Performs additional related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience...

Work Experience

Minimum 5 years experience in editorial book publishing. Experience in adult fiction - Book Club, Women's, Romance - and/or YA/Children's a plus.
Experience in development preferred.

Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification

High School diploma or equivalent required
BA/BS degree preferred

Knowledge/Skills

Knowledge of the marketplace, in publishing, film, and television.
Ability to manage complex book schedules with tight deadlines
Ability to participate in managing the development process
Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Other Requirements

Established relationships with writers and agents
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work well with a team as well as independently
Flexibility to work extended hours to accommodate crash schedules.

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of *** Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $47,466.00 - $88,150.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, *** Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Freelance Producer/News Editor to supervise the staff for our network radio news operations (terrestrial and *** News Headlines 24/7 - Channel 115 on *** Radio). As the Freelance Producer/News Editor you are our editorial leader, working with news anchors to craft the content and structure of a 24/7 news operation. This is fast-moving news environment! Your ability to thrive in a fast-paced deadline-driven newsroom allows you to deliver top-quality segments/newscasts. You excel at multi-tasking and pay close attention to details. Your writing and editing skills are excellent and your editorial judgment is first-rate.

Shifts: Weekend mornings, afternoons, overnights - plus opportunities to fill in during weekday shifts.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Format, program, coordinate, and produce a live news program
Produce segments and reporter hits
Manage and maintain clear communication with Reporters, Editors, Assignment desk and Anchors
Keep newscast updated by working on developing stories as the day progresses
Handle staffing issues when managers are not present

**** YOU **** NEED

At least 3-5 years of experience editing all-news radio or producing live breaking news in a television control room
Highly skilled in writing and copy-editing
Ability to handle breaking news situations
Strong editorial judgment is a must
Ability to interact with high-profile talent
A positive attitude and great communication skills
Ability to work well in a team environment
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
Knowledge of iNews, ENCO and Adobe Audition (Cool-Edit) a major plus
