Title: The National High School Musical Theatre Awards

Tony Award-winning production company, Apples and Oranges, seeks a highly motivated Associate Producer to join our National High School Musical Theatre Awards virtual production team.

Better known as The Jimmy Awards, The National High School Musical Theatre Awards are a national celebration of outstanding student achievement, recognizing individual artistry in vocal, dance, and acting performance and elevating the importance of theatre arts education in schools, presented by The Broadway League. While the awards, and affiliated educational programming, are typically held in-person, in New York City, this year’s event will be conducted virtually.

Apples and Oranges will produce all video coverage of the 10-day program where 72 nominees from around the country work with top musical theatre talent, guests and coaches to learn a full length show that will be presented to a panel of industry judges and the general public. While the program is largely educational in nature, the nominees are competing for college scholarships and a chance to join the many successful Jimmy Awards alumni in the professional performing arts.

The Associate Producer will work closely with the Producer, Post-Production Supervisor and other team members to manage tasks, coordinate meetings, shoots and workflow, facilitate communication and offer administrative support as needed. Working within a small team, the AP will have the opportunity to offer creative input and assist the production in meaningful ways and interact with top theatre and film industry professionals. Successful candidates should be self-motivated, detail-oriented and strong communicators able to work flexible and extended hours during production.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Detail-oriented, strong written and verbal communication skills, works well independently, comfortable with high-volume multi-tasking, professional demeanor, great interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to closely manage a work plan
• Interest in live theatrical and/or tv/film producing
• Familiarity with modern production management tools, processes and online project management tools (such as Trello, Teamwork or Monday.com)
• Proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel, Word
• Familiarity with Zoom
• Experience with scheduling (Meetings, Projects, Calls, Travel, etc.)
• Access to a computer and fast/reliable internet
• Ability to work autonomously

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working remotely, with distributed teams
• General knowledge of the modern musical theatre landscape
• Based in New York City area (or in Eastern Time Zone)
• At least one year working as an AP in docu-reality style television production or similar fast-moving production environment

How you'll make an impact:

Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for the daily show preparation of an assigned talk show or shows. The producer will meet with the executive producers on a regular basis and will report to the executive producers. This person will also meet with his assigned host(s) each day to discuss topics and plan segments for the show.
