SEEKING NON-UNION CINEMATOGRAPHER FOR NEW DOCUMENTARY EXPLORING EARLY BLACK FILM AND THEATRE
Hello! We are producing a new feature-length documentary celebrating early black theatre and film that explores the motives of forgotten producer Robert Levy - a white man who oversaw countless productions featuring all-black casts in Harlem between 1916 and 1924. Why was this pioneer in early black theatre and film forgotten by historians and his many accomplishments shamed by his own family? Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Levy_(producer)
Across a 2-3 day shoot in mid-August, we are renting a classic theatre and producing a series of short vignettes that depict Levy in the period between 1916-1924. Our ideal candidate is creative, fast-working, reliable, and has a reel showing experience shooting a period production. If interested, please send a letter of interest and links to your reel asap. Thanks!
