Our Lighting Artists are an integral part of the storytelling process, using their keen eye to manipulate color and light to emphasize shifts of mood both subtle and dynamic. We are looking for artists who thrive in a team environment. This includes the ability to share ideas and also to be open to ideas within the team.

What You Will Do
Lighting Artists are responsible for lighting, rendering, and compositing shots together with both character and environment renders into a final frame until it meets the vision of the Director, Production Designer, Director of Cinematography: Lighting, and Lighting Supervisors.

Lighting Artists present shots in a dailies environment, effectively communicate issues regarding their shots, and deliver top-notch work within production deadlines.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Understanding of color, contrast, and lighting design
Notable production experience with 3D lighting and compositing
A strong visual sense and the ability to distinguish subtle differences that affect the matching of elements crafted in multiple mediums
Strong knowledge of Houdini
Solid understanding of a node-based compositing system (i.e. Shake or Nuke) required
Global illumination lighting such as V-Ray, Arnold or similar experience required
Strong in-depth knowledge of Unix and/or Linux
Strong problem solving skills and a good eye required
Ability to work in a collaborative environment, taking direction from the Director, Production Designer, Director of Cinematography: Lighting, and Lighting Supervisors.

Education

BA in Art, Digital *** , Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience

Responsibilities:

Every day as an Appliance Electrician is different. On any given day or night, you might:

Troubleshoot equipment problems at one of the many restaurants to keep the food flowing.
Be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, repairing electrical systems/assemblies, lamping, installation of receptacles, switches, bending conduit, and resetting breakers.

Basic Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Ability to perform maintenance on food preparation and holding appliances/equipment. Understanding of and ability to operate under Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines and other food safety/sanitary guidelines. Must also be able to troubleshoot and repair gas and steam systems applied in commercial kitchen equipment.
Technical competence, the ability to read and understand detailed instructions, blueprints, flowcharts, schematics and engineering documents, and pass all compliance for technical and safety training
Knowledge in the control and repair of circuits and motors
Keen troubleshooting skills and comfortable working alone or in a team.
Ability to evaluate the scope of a job, resolve needed parts/materials, and order through authorized vendors
Expertise using common hand tools, meters, gauges and other associated test and measurement equipment, as well as ability to measure current, voltage and amperage
Proficiency in the basic math skills needed to do the job, differentiate colors, digital literacy, and full understanding of the National Electric Code
Stamina and the physical ability to undertake the job. You might bicycle, bend, kneel, climb, push vehicles to re-position them for repair, work with arms/hands above shoulder level for an extended period of time, climb (sometimes as high as 200 ft.) and more, all on a regular basis

You will be required to use 2-way radios, learn CMMS (MAXIMO work order system), attend/pass compliance and other training sessions to ensure accurate maintenance documentation
Electricians may work outdoors in all weather conditions, in an industrial workshop, in kitchens with wet/slippery surfaces, and may have occasional exposure to high temperatures, noise levels, and fumes
In addition to the physical tasks listed above, Electronic Technicians may need to push/pull and/or lift up to 10 lbs. constantly, up to 25 lbs. frequently, up to 75 lbs. occasionally and rarely up to/over 100 lbs.

Schedule Availability - Must be open to any shift (1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift) including weekends, holidays, with any combination of days off.

Preferred Qualifications:

2 or more years of experience
Ideal backgrounds include trade school, apprenticeship and related experience

Additional Information:

Those assigned to the Electrician position are required to attend an annual Hearing Conservation training class and Lead Awareness class. They are also required to submit to an annual audiometric exam and a semi-annual Lead/Zinc blood test.

Position Summary

The Lighting TD designs and implements direct and reflected lighting and shadows for assigned shots that meet art and tone direction. Ensures that assigned shots fit the continuity of the sequence. Develops solutions and techniques that meet art/technical direction. Participates in team review of work under development. Able to navigate and use previous setups for at least a dozen shots, insertion of shot specialization, managing multiple assets and lighting setups. Also able to light using varying shadowing strategies, imitate distributed light sources. Management of volumetric light setups, including shadowing and cucoloris development. Also able to light, material assign and render for actors using CG hair and scattering skin materials.

What You'll Do

Design and create lighting and the look of computer generated objects and scenes
Create images, effects, and scripts for digitally composited sequences
Compile various elements of a shot and see it through to completion
Demonstrate good listening and communication skills by openly receiving direction and criticism by asking good questions to confirm clear understanding of the directions and how to approach what needs to be done. Once clear, implements the requested changes im *** tely and raises flags right away if a solution is not quickly found or if there are any delays, making sure the Supervisors and Production are kept in the loop and are up-to-date on the status of one's shot work.
Demonstrate solid presentation/communication skills in dailies/shot review by clearly and briefly outlining what has been accomplished and what next should be addressed in the shot
Demonstrate solid problem solving skills
