The Media Manager at Hearst Magazines - Editorial Video will help to support our growing digital media video department. This individual will manage the file-based workflow of the Originals/Development video department and will be based in the New York office. The Media Manager will play a crucial role to establish the best-in-class workflows for the non-linear editing systems, including the upkeep and improvement of file-shared and server-based workflows within different locations/time zones.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining asset management workflows, writing procedures for end-users, and overseeing the day-to-day management of assets within the server and archive process on a cloud based environment.


This role reports to the Sr Director of Post Production and Operations and works under the direct supervision of the Senior Media Manager, Hearst Magzines.


Primarily onsite work out of midtown Manhattan office, Monday thru Friday for a fixed period of 6 months, with the possibility of extension up to 1 Year or 1,000 hours; whichever comes first pending performance review and workload needs - with potential for conversion to staff.



Ongoing Responsibilities Include:


Directly perform Media Ingests, Preparing Media archives, and Final Deliverables storage.
Support the Post-Production workflows of Hearst video in both NYC and LA offices.
Troubleshoot media IT systems (server, workstations, editing platforms),
Support and administer all media assets, metadata, folders, rules, and access across post-production storage and systems both on-site and in the cloud.
Collaborate with technical and post teams on determining workflows and protocols for media management, storage, and access.
Support and maintain the shared storage environment in house (NAS, SAN) and MAM.
Responsible for all asset tracking, ingestion, organization, media files, metadata practices, and post production processes.
Distribute deliverables lists, as well as confirm and communicate delivery specs to internal departments and external partners.
The "Go-To" Person if something needs to be fixed or if someone needs assistance (could range from server connection issues, editing assistance, or production scheduling).
Excellent ability to communicate through both oral and written means.

Requirements:


3 + years experience working in asset management and post- production.
Understanding of file based workflows, asset naming conventions, and post-production support.
Experience working with and managing media asset management systems.
Experience with high-end servers.
Technical knowledge of non-linear video assets, video codecs, wrappers, hard drives, field production, and how post production interfaces with the field production team.
Skilled in managing multiple projects and priorities.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Experience with managing media asset platforms and services such as MediaSilo
Ability to provide basic IT support for editing staff.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud : Premiere Pro and After Effects.
Working knowledge of ScheduALL, Xytech, AirTable, and/or other scheduling systems.
Experience with broadcast QC/Mastering practices strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
