DATA WRANGLER / MEDIA MANAGER / POST PA (FIELD)

Established Production company looking for Post PA in Palm Beach, FL to manage media and work on docuseries television series. Ideal candidate will have experience with on-set and/or field media management, previous professional PA work, and knowledge of Mac-based post production workflows.

Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

- Working directly with office based Post department to convey all post information and material from Palm Beach to NY office in timely manner

- Receiving media cards from the field crew

- Checking proper labeling of cards being handed off

- Ensuring that field crew is shooting with proper camera specs per NY Post department

- Offloading media from cards to Master, Backup and shuttle hard drives

- Confirming all media is accounted for prior to card recycle

- Updating field documents to track footage being offloaded, ie: camera reports, audio reports

- Coordinating with NY office to ensure proper receipt of files

- Reporting field issues to the NY office and seeking approval of any on-the-fly workflow changes

- Working with field crew to complete runs, help with setup, move gear between locations, etc.

- Some positions require the ability to drive a rented vehicle and a valid driver's license. Please note if you do not have one.

Qualifications Include: 

- Extensive knowledge of NTSC, PAL, HD, UHD, and 4K formats in various frame rates.

- Experience with Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, Shotput Pro or other media conversion software is a plus.

- Ability to learn new software quickly  and follow written instructions

- Knowledgeable in Google Doc spreadsheets

- Strong organizational skills 

- Ability to multitask and communicate progress and tech issues with the NY office

Our ideal candidate is a veteran journalist ready to lead a newsroom in a top 10 market and has a strong gut for stories that are urgent, impactful, and newsworthy. You will work closely with other senior news managers, including the director of content, news director and digital director, in making sure our content choices are in line with brand strategy. Evaluates, recruits, and onboards new reporter and desk hires.

Monthly check-ins and mentoring of direct reports to help reporter and assignment editors hone skills in developing sources and acting on tips
Daily reporter script review

Generates new angles and sidebar stories from lead stories

Requirements:

A minimum of 6 years of journalism experience with an emphasis on and proven record of accomplishment of managing teams during breaking news and at least 3 years of management experience

*** U Local is looking for an experienced Spanish-language digital managing editor to lead the evening content center team. The right candidate is a meticulous writer/editor and has experience managing people and coaching. This job entails working under pressure during breaking news situations without breaking a sweat. The Evening Managing Editorwill manage an experienced staff augmenting the work of the 24 news departments in our local stations, as well as coach and help our local editors from those same stations.
