Seeking an experienced producer for a feature-length documentary about the Caucasus region.

The producer will play a key role in guiding the project through production and post-production as the project develops. We are looking for someone that can be the point-person throughout the various elements of production, whether it is acting as a liaison between topic consultant and experts, helping to plan interview shoots, overseeing archival media clearances, or communicating with post-production regarding various needs and timelines. The producer will have eyes and hands on every aspect of the documentary as it comes together.

The producer should have previous experience working on documentaries or long-form journalism pieces. Organization, communication, and the ability to manage a team are essential.

What started as a 2 week documentary about the indomitable will of the local people as a feel good story, turned in over 2 months of undercover journalism, learning about narco-terrorism, bribes, gun smuggling, hundreds of contacts with the local military, US department of state contractors, gun dealers, government agents, and a once paradise, being now used for the narcos for their operations.

All these information being told from the perspective of a female who initially just wanted to head home and see how she could make a difference.

I have shot amazing footage in locations rarely given access to, partner with strategic allies in the local government and am ready to put the story together, I just need a visionary that will help me make it a reality.

Did I also forget to mention there are also Enchanted islands and a breathtaking backdrop in one of the most beautiful (yet currently dangerous) places on Earth?

This might be a very unconventional way to put together a project, but maybe it's time to disrupt the way the industry works.

The Digital Producer for Growth & Engagement is a skilled video content creator and writer who uses editorial judgment to make real-time decisions! They can respond quickly to breaking news, identify top newsmaking moments and build explainer-style video content for *** News.com and YouTube. They should be comfortable making quick turn-around videos during breaking news events and will pitch creative video/story ideas to the director of Growth & Engagement, using data to guide their content decisions. They should have a strong understanding of SEO, using keyword research tools and crafting clickable headlines.

The schedule for this role is Monday through Friday from 4p to midnight. It's a hybrid role based out of New York. You will need to shift your schedule as news breaks.

Day-to-day responsibilities

Edit and publish original long-form video content including *** News talent, using voiceovers, adding text on screen and more
Edit and publish original short-form, vertical videos that highlight the top news of the day or capture top moments from *** News programs
Identify *** News broadcast or stream segments to repackage for our YouTube audiences
Identify *** News archives to resurface, working closely with executive producers, rights & clearances, legal and standards teams to ensure content is cleared for publication
Clip live news coverage, special reports and more from *** News Streaming in real-time
Run daily live streams, curate and optimize *** News' YouTube channels
Write your own original SEO-friendly, accurate headlines and descriptions to accompany all videos published across *** News.com and YouTube
Write clear, concise, and error-free app, web, Apple News and OTT push alerts that could go out optimally to a wide audience without revisions
Write *** News.com articles across a wide array of topics
Contribute to G&E reports that are distributed across various verticals and platforms, identifying traffic patterns and sharing suggestions on how to grow traffic

Qualifications

You have 3+ years of experience in a digital breaking news environment and proven ability to react quickly as news develops
Familiarity with editing software (Adobe Premiere, PhotoShop, Wochit, etc.)
You're a strong writer and self-editor who can move quickly and with precision
You're familiar with analytics platforms like Adobe, Chartbeat, YouTube Studio, etc.
You know how to craft a compelling headline and description following SEO standard processes

Hiring Salary Range: $80,000.00 - 90,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
