Studio Engineer Job Summary:

The Studio Engineer must have both broad and specific knowledge of the many tools used in video production and postproduction. They are responsible for maintaining the equipment and electronic systems that form and support the production and postproduction workflows for studio operations. The Studio Engineer also supports the studio through technical research and evaluations of new hardware, image acquisition systems and post-production tools in order to help make recommendations on best practices in support of our various studio constituents.

Our Studio Engineer will need to work flexible work hours based around the Studio schedule.

They will be relied on to research, design and develop technologies and workflows geared toward advancing the post-production processes for television productions, commercials, and film production. They will work with vendors on R&D projects, to provide demos of equipment and other technologies.

Studio Engineer Responsibilities:

1. Work with the Management and Studio staff to architect, develop and implement workflows originating in the Production Studio through Post-Production.

2. Work directly with Production Studio and Postproduction to develop workflows and educate regarding best practices and new methods of Postproduction for HDR, XR, VR, 3D, etc.

3. Responsible for ensuring the data storage and networking in Postproduction is correctly configured and fully functional.

4. Ensures all systems are correctly configured to be compliant with Content Security policies.

5. Supervise or assist other employees engaged in maintaining and supporting studio technology.

6. Ensures all equipment is asset tagged and maintains equipment inventory database.

7. Works closely with the Studio Manager to research, plan, budget and deliver Engineering projects interfacing with all internal and external stakeholders as necessary

8. Carries out support Engineer tasks as directed by the Studio Management.

9. Educate Creative teams on tool utilization and channel direct feedback on function and improvements

10. Create and maintain internal documentation

11. Understand the process of, and be able to help execute wiring schematics

Studio Engineer Duties Including:

Design, integrate and maintain various Postproduction systems for editorial, animation, color correction, LED Wall projection, display and audio systems.
Develop, design and maintain data infrastructure SAN, NAS, VPN, ethernet network, etc)
Directly interact and communicate with Production Management, especially when technical questions or issues arise.
Work with manufacturers and vendors to develop solutions for our requirements.
Perform image and audio testing and analysis
Collaborate with Studio and Company Management on emerging technologies.
Will require extensive experience with image and video processing applications, Postproduction and Animation Software such as:

Adobe Creative Suite / Adobe Premiere Pro Video Editing Software
Da Vinci Resolve
Unreal Engine / Resol
Maya, Houdini, ZBrush
Sony Cameras: Venice, FS7, A7s, DSLR etc.
Studio Engineer Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Current video post-production systems for best engineering and operations practices
Video display systems (monitors, projectors, LED Walls, etc.)
Audio signal processing systems (delays, amps, speakers, etc.)
HD and UHD Camera systems, lenses and Automation
Terminating various types of cables
Windows, Mac and Linux computer systems
Shared storage systems in a high-performance computing environment
Audio and video routing systems
Troubleshooting complex wiring systems
Troubleshooting software systems
Using test equipment to perform tasks
Studio Engineer Qualifications:

• 10 plus years of proven work experience in studio and/or broadcast engineering.

• Must be an exceptional Project Manager.

• Effective communicator organized and detail oriented.

• Highly collaborative and adaptable.

• Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
