JOB DESCRIPTION: Kansas City, MO based stringer/researcher will go to multiple courts to research information contained in pending small claims cases. As a stringer, youÃ¢??ll be looking for interesting and compelling small claims cases that our show can produce for daytime television. In some instances, you may need to drive a good distance to and from courts. Driving time is paid for, and mileage is reimbursed. You will need to keep in regular and frequent contact with the Los Angeles home office. This is an excellent opportunity to gain both legal and entertainment experience for your professional resume.

PAY RATE: THIS IS AN HOURLY, PART-TIME POSITION AT $10.00/HOUR. Mileage is reimbursed at $0.575/mile. Work-related expenses will be reimbursed (photocopying, faxing, scanning, etc.). Due to website structure, we are required to input a daily rate, however, please note that you will not automatically make $80.00/daily. You will earn $10.00/hour (or minimum wage based on your location) based on your weeksÃ¢?? worth of work.

QUALIFICATIONS: We are seeking students and or non-students who are self-motivated, efficient, professional, organized, and have strong communication skills. You must possess a working car with insurance. Legal/court knowledge is preferred, but not required.

ELIGIBILITY: Currently enrolled law students, undergraduate students, or non-students; no recent graduates, unless you are not interested in or looking for full-time employment of any kind as this will not lead to a full-time position. Again, this will only be a part-time position, however, it is year-round.

The Researcher position at Nightly News Weekend is a great opportunity to learn and master all of the building blocks of broadcast news, while also gaining experience working on deeply reported and highly produced pieces for air.

As a Researcher, you will work directly with Producers and Senior Producers to help write and assist in the production of original content for Nightly News.

Responsibilities:

Assist in producing original news content, primarily for broadcast, including, but not limited to, research, conducting interviews, writer and editing scripts, field producing and shooting, and overseeing editing

Role Purpose
