Job DescriptionThis role serves as a key position in the *** U Local Stations financial planning and analysis function within *** Universal Local. This role will be responsible for assisting with all financial aspects of the business and requires understanding of accounting/finance and the ability to partner with business units, Corporate Finance, and Comcast.
Reporting to the Sr. Director of FP&A, this key role on the *** U Local Headquarters Finance team will help prepare the consolidated financial results, variance analysis, summarize Operational insights & reporting to Station & News leadership. The role will have the ability to gain an in-depth view and understanding of the Local Station business as well as help own HQ Budgets such as Marketing, Research, Programming and Arthouse/other budgets. The ownership of the HQ budgets will allow this role to partner directly with key members of the Local Station Management team such as the *** U Local CMO & EVP of Acquired Programming and the VP of Operations for Arthouse (an in-house creative studio).
Responsibilities- Support Sr. Director, FP&A in consolidating financial results, operational insights and providing variance explanations for *** U's Corporate finance team in preparation of pacing and quarter closes.
- Work with Sr. Director, FP&A onfinancial summaries for *** U Local Management & News Finance HQ.
- Assist with managing the HQ Budgets, such as Marketing, Research, Programming, Arthouse and others as needed. Understand deal terms and market nuances.
- Support monthly and quarterly closing processes (e.g., analyze departmental expenses, calculate required accruals, create journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, and take lead to ensure all expenses are captured and stated properly)
- Resolve vendor setup and payment issues - act as liaison with Accounts Payable team
- Track spending against budget and partner with the various operators to ensure spending remains within approved limits
- Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, pacing and long-range plans
- Aid in the creation of executive PowerPoint presentations
- Ad hoc variance analysis and projects
Qualifications- Minimum of bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, related field, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum two (2) year of experience in Finance or Accounting
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and a Windows environment, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

- Demonstrated system aptitude and knowledge of financial reporting software a plus (SAP & BPC)

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the NYC office a minimum of three days per week.
