Seeking an Equipment Manager to work with Technical Supervisor on show filming in Alaska. This two person team manages the gear on location and is present throughout the filming period.

Tasks include prepping and maintaining audio, camera, & grip/lighting in field, rigging cameras, troubleshooting gear issues and tracking inventory throughout the season.

Experience with Sony FX6 and field work is a plus.

This is a weekly rate. Per diem will be an additional amount paid on top of weekly rate.

Job Description

PLEASE NOTE: This is a project / limited term position with an estimated duration of up to 12 months, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.

The Technical Manager will provide front-line management of personnel, facilities, equipment, operations and technology for a customer driven production operations group. Coordinate all technical and logistical requirements prior to air and then in the control rooms to ensure that all technical aspects of the production go as planned. This position works with and supports productions in the *** Sports Group Stamford facility including the *** Broadcast Network, Golf Channel, Olympic Channel, *** as well as *** Olympics.

Responsibilities:

Work closely with all show personnel in planning programs and scheduling manpower resources including field crews, edit rooms, control rooms and production ***
Coordinate and communicate with remote origination locations to ensure technical quality and readiness for air.
Ensure efficient utilization of company resources within a fast paced rapidly changing environment
Work with other *** entities, outside broadcasters and vendors to identify, negotiate for and secure required resources.
Maintain technical and broadcast quality.
Work closely with engineering to ensure all equipment is meeting client's expectations.
Ensure compliance with all applicable company policies

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimumfive (5) years' experience in live, studio television production experience.
Minimum five (5)years' experience in engineering support and operational experience in broadcast studio and production control room.
Minimum three (3) years' experience with field/remote production processes and equipment (including satellite/telco and communications) experience.
Must have proficient computer skills including; Apple, Microsoft O365, and other collaborative software platforms.
Must be able to work flexible and long hours during the week and across weekends.

Ensure that talent and guests microphones have charged batteries, that microphones are on proper frequency, turned on properly and have corresponding IFB's (when applicable). Ensure talent is on the set, miked and informed of the cues in use. Prior to air, verify that all studio equipment is working properly. QC audio levels and mix using QC monitor in audio booth. Update music request playlists on a daily basis with music requested from executive producers. Know camera-blocking positions for newscasts. Ensure camera shots are in focus and framed according to camera directives from Director. Create creative bump shots along with standard formatted shots. Change batteries in microphones and IFB's when necessary. Leave studio, PCR and audio booth clean, orderly and safe at the end of the newscast or production taping. Be familiar with Sony ELC coding and show execution to fill in as needed. Make minor repairs to IFB's, microphones, monitors and audio board as needed. Operate prompter when talent is unable to do so as assigned. Understand basics of lighting panel. Maintain audio booth, prop room, cameras and prompters. Interact effectively and professionally with talent, producers and crew.

Must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and/or step stools to maintain equipment.
Computer proficiency in MS Windows including MS Office, Outlook, and Visio. Solid understanding of IP networking, file system infrastructure, software installation/update practices, and experience using FTP, telnet, and terminal applications with serial interfaces.
Basic knowledge of navigating Mac OS X including application installation, file system basics, and network configuration.
Solid grasp of RF fundamentals: 2-way, cellular, point-to-point microwave, and wireless networking systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assist junior Pipeline TDs in providing front-line support; resolve complex user errors; guide Pipeline Engineers and R&D with debugging technical issues.
Develop comprehensive knowledge of software and systems; contribute to evolving standards and conventions used in production.
Update documentation for the pipeline and tools to reflect any changes that are made.

Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related technical field.
Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining tools for use in a computer graphics environment.
At least 5 years production experience in visual effects for film, commercials or television.

Required Skills/Competencies

Proficiency in Linux
Advanced Python scripting required
Experience in one or more of Maya, Nuke, Houdini, Mari, Katana, RenderMan or similar
Ability to communicate cross-discipline and provide innovative solutions to pipeline issues.
Detail oriented and strong self-sufficient troubleshooter.
Thorough understanding of the entire visual effects process, from shooting to modeling and texturing, animation, rendering and compositing

Preferred Skills/Competencies

Experience with production database systems
Experience with C, C++
Experience with Windows development and applications such as 3ds max a plus.

Production Summary

The Technical Assistant position is an exciting opportunity for a
technical individual who enjoys problem solving and a passion for cutting edge
technology to contribute across all aspects of production at ILM. This position
provides assistance directly to artists and production staff and works closely with
production and software engineers to enable the success and efficiency of the
production pipeline.

What you'll do:

• Troubleshooting and dynamic problem solving for layout, animation,
lighting, and post-production workflows
• Image/ *** handling, including conversion, manipulation, quality control,
and playback for visual reviews
• Render troubleshooting and queue management
• Data management, including monitoring/cleanup of disk space usage, file
transfer, and quality assurance
• Communication *** ween artists, production, and technical groups for the
timely resolution of any issues affecting production.
• Data archival and restores
• Automation of common tasks and reports to improve efficiency of all
aspects of the production pipeline

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree.
