How you'll make an impact:
As a Pandora Listener Experience designer, you will collaborate with an inspiring team of designers and cross-functional partners to craft the immersive, uniquely-Pandora in-app audio experience loved by tens of millions of passionate listeners. You will be challenged to innovate and differentiate our services within the competitive streaming market, address our listeners' wide range of "audio jobs to be done", and impact *** + Pandora's core business metrics. With a focus on our listener-facing advertising experiences, you will live at the intersection of monetization and building the best musical experience for our listeners.
What you'll do:
- Develop a nuanced understanding of Pandora's business goals as well as the needs and perspectives of our listeners and advertisers
- Translate those goals and needs into a creative vision, hypotheses, and experiments - realized by elegant, actionable, and effective design solutions via sketches, wireframes, user flows, prototypes, visual mocks, and interaction specs
- Lead the design and integration of our listener-facing ads experiences including audio ads, display ads, rewarded ads, and sponsorships
- Consider the full ecosystem of our listener experience across mobile, web, TV, and other devices as well as connect to the tools & teams powering the front-end experience
- Collaborate with org-wide cross-functional partners to define, build a shared understanding around, implement, and measure the impact of our designs
- Be a great design team member - we make each other *** ter designers by providing and being receptive to feedback, asking the right questions, and recognizing we each bring unique and valuable perspectives to the team
- Shape the product design process - we constantly reflect upon the way we work and rely on our designers to help us iterate and improve
- Evangelize user-centered design across the company
- Note that this role does not have any official supervisory responsibilities but there are always opportunities to mentor other designers if that is of interest to you. Our team supports growth paths that lead toward management positions or continued individual contributor work and we recognize the importance of both.
What you'll need:
Note that aside from the legal right to work these are not hard requirements and you don't need to meet 100% of them to be considered. We specifically do not require a degree because we know that good designers can come from anywhere with the right amount of drive and experience. - 5+ years of experience in product design and development, preferably leading ad-supported *** experiences - demonstrable via design portfolio, use cases, in-market products, etc. Portfolios should highlight challenges you faced, how you collaborated with others, what you learned, and the personal/business/end-user impact of your work.
- Bachelor of Science in a design or tech-related field or equivalent industry experience
- A user-centered approach to problem solving that leverages research, analytics, and empathy combined with strong design intuition and best practices
- An understanding of today's common design patterns (across mobile, web, desktop) and an awareness of when it's appropriate (or not) to deviate from them
- Demonstrated commitment to growth and learning professionally and personally
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to tailor communications to your audience
- Habit of sharing your work at all stages to leverage the expertise of those around you
- Patience, kindness, accountability, and curiosity
- Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Technical requirements:
- Expert-level skills with current UX/Ser *** Design tools (we use Figma but we can ramp you up if you currently use another)
- Familiarity with project management tools (we use Jira)
- Fluency with presentation software such as Google Slides or Powerpoint
- Although no coding is required for this role, you must have a solid understanding of general development processes, technologies, and frameworks (i.e. presentation layer coding, iOS, Android, etc.)
- Familiarity with component-based Design Systems Our goal at *** is to provide and maintain a work environment that fosters mutual respect, professionalism and cooperation.
At *** , we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $132,500 to $200,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
