Vox Studios is Vox Media's in-house Studio dedicated to helping our verticals and brand partners develop, produce and edit editorial content. Our team is comprised of a group of designers, technicians, filmmakers, and storytellers with a passion for pushing the digital medium forward.
Role:
This is a multifaceted role that will evolve over time, the core focus for the Video Operations Assistant is to proactively manage the facility operations and facilitate production. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator, highly organized, data informed and self motivated. The Video Operations Assistant is expected to manage the day to day technical environment for production & post-production operations, as well as developing & maintaining workflow documentation for operations of Vox Studios’ San Francisco office. This is a entry to mid-level full time opportunity that has high potential for growth with result driven individuals.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for the availability, quality & health of all production equipment based in SF
Communicate with teams about equipment needs, requests, and repairs.
Develop and maintain procedural workflow documentation
Coordinate across departments on new hire onboarding as it pertains to media production
Perform quarterly audits on equipment
Facilitate media management in coordination with Technical Operations
Provide direct support to Production groups for in-studio & on location shoots, including but not limited to; equipment prep for shoots, audio & video recording, lighting and media management
Collaborate with Post-Production & Studio Operations teams to optimize current processes with a focus on automation & reporting
Ensure media integrity throughout ingest-archive processes,
Regularly provide training to production teams on camera or production technology
Stay up to date on video technology and media management trends
Be a part of a team providing support of our systems infrastructure globally
Requirements:
Superior verbal and written communication skills
Must be a self starter with a positive attitude and a strong desire to learn
Working knowledge of computer hardware & networking concepts in post-production environments
Strong familiarity of codecs, bit rates, UHD workflows
Strong working knowledge of video equipment
Good planning and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail
Strong time management skills with a proven ability to prioritise; experience of working to tight deadlines
Proven ability to work in a team environment adopting a collaborative and supportive approach
2+ years in a studio or Post-Production environment
Ability to work self directed, adjusting priorities as needed while keeping stakeholders involved and informed
