The Legal Negotiations team has frontline responsibility for negotiating the legal terms and conditions of our customer contracts worldwide. Our colleagues depend on us to gain deep product and commercial contract knowledge in order to support them in closing the deal, while protecting our businesses from undue legal risk.

Based in Singapore, you will be an integral part of the Legal Department, working closely and supported by your Negotiations colleagues and In-house Counsel. Your New Role...

*** Discovery (WBD) is searching for a Director, Employee Connection, UK and EMEA to join the Global Business Services (GBS) People & Culture (P&C) Operations team. This role will manage WBD's P&C Employee Connection and Workforce Administration (WFA) onsite team members in the UK and throughout Europe who support People & Culture (P&C) Services and (P&C) Partners in the UK and EMEA with position and employee data management. This Director role oversees day-to-day processes, recommends and builds processes as part of the continuous improvement journey, participates as a subject matter expert in meetings and on special projects around WFA and EC, and assists internal and external clients and P&C Partners with questions and concerns.

The EC and WFA teams are the primary data owner of employee data in Workday HCM. The team processes transactions for HR employee data such as position management, hires, rate changes, promotions, transfers, terminations, and data corrections in our Workday HCM or another local systems, audits and analyzes data to maintain data quality and ensure data accuracy. They are the system and process experts as it pertains to employee data and transactions.

Your Role Accountabilities...

Oversee the day-to-day EC and WFA activities for the teams based in the UK and throughout Europe
Participates as a member of the global GBS P&C Ops management team and assist in setting goals, processes & procedures across the global teams (Hyderabad, India, Mexico City, Mexico, Warsaw, Poland, and the US among others)

The Labour & Employment legal team is part of the Corporate Legal department at *** Universal and is comprised of the following practice groups: Employment Law, Fair Employment Practises, Global Immigration, Labour Relations, Executive Contracts & Talent Legal Affairs

The Employment Law group advises on the full range of employment legal issues faced by the Group acting as a trusted business partner and corporate adviser.

The Fair Employment Practices group serves as a key, central point of contact to address concerns raised by employees, including complaints of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. This role will be responsible for conducting, coordinating, and handling internal investigations of employment-related complaints. This role will also focus on enterprise-wide efforts to support positive employee relations, which will include the development and implementation of training programs, focus groups and other initiatives.

This role will provide employment legal and fair employment practices support to all the *** Universal businesses in Australia and New Zealand and also advise Universal *** Group on all its production activity across the APAC region.

Employment Legal

Provide legal ad *** and counsel to HR, managers, including key business leaders, and other internal lawyers, both within and outside the US, regarding the full range of labour and employment legal issues in APAC.
Advise *** Universal and, as appropriate, instruct outside counsel with respect to internal investigations, employment litigation and the employment-related aspects of acquisitions and dispositions of businesses.
Build close relationships with HR and Legal in order to foster a partnering approach.
Analyze and advise with respect to the impact of legislative changes on our operations

Fair Employment Practises

Conduct investigations in to highly-sensitive and/or complex matters relating to allegations of harassment, discrimination, complaints about manager(s), and/or work environment in partnership with the internal Employment Law team and HR
Prepare investigative documents and record cases in case management tool
Communicate and report out findings to key stakeholders
Partner with internal team to identify trends and make recommendations for training or other proactive measures
Lead and collaborate with the broader team on positive employee relations initiatives
Create and implement new policies, procedures, and trainings as relating to respect in the workplace

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

A minimum of 5 years PQE as an employment lawyer in Australia, including significant experience conducting investigations. Knowledge of and experience with employment laws in other countries across APAC would be beneficial but is not a pre-requisite.The ability to work well in a fast-paced, high volume, matrixed in-house environment, demonstrating good business judgment, flexibility and self-confidence.
