Viacom, Music & Entertainment is seeking an experienced assistant editor to provide support for a unscripted long form show thru online.

This includes basic assistant editor duties, working with producers to execute various editorial projects which involves but not limited to keep track of existing show media, strong organizational skills desired. Looking for seasoned AEs with network show backgrounds that can troubleshoot on their own.

***Avid MC AES with unscripted long form experiecnce) are preferred.***

Responsibilities:

-upres existing locked picture cuts, prepping finished shows for online finishing (color, mix)
-Media management of multiple projects in an ISIS/San/Interplay environment.
-Transcoding files for multiple platforms.
-Assisting editors for string outs, prepping multi-group edits/synching, exporting cuts and take over smaller edits
-Follow naming conventions for all media and keeping it consistent thru the workflow.
-Working with other groups for ongoing needs

Basic Requirements:

-Must be extremely comfortable/expert user with Avid Media Composer not limited to Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and encoding apps.
-Experienced in workflows of sending full shows to mix (prepping projects, AAF, log sheets, etc)
-Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot edit maintenance issues (ex: media offline, audio issues, reconnecting old projects, etc) Avid errors
-Able to handle multiple requests in a fast-paced environment.
-Know the differences between file codecs from tapeless material.
-Understand the digital delivery process and the types of files exported for on/air & online.
-Comfortable in a Mac environment as well as the ability to multitask under changing priorities.
-Team player and open to various workflows from different groups.
-Flexible hours (late nights)
-Bachelor's Degree and someone genuinely interested in post-production who wants get on track to be an editor.
-Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary

Job Description

CLEARANCE
-Manage requests from story producers and editors to source stock clips from popular stock houses including Pond 5, Getty, etc.
-Track all 3rd party materials being imported into the system
-Track budget for any acquired footage that may be included in cut
-Work with Post-Production Supervisor and Producers to ensure creative needs related to AQ are met and remain within budget by the time of lock
-Watch down each cut (RC1, RC2, FC, LC) in step with EDL and make sure all releases have been obtained
-Research, distribute, and collect releases as necessary for people, locations, materials that the field production team was unable to obtain
-Work with Post Production Supervisor, Line Producer, and Legal to determine any clearance issues that may need to be released, blurred, or removed
-Work with Post-Production Supervisor, Line Producer, and Legal for reliance on Fair Use Doctrine and Public Domain

POST-PRODUCTION
-Schedule and communicate graphics, offline, online, and mix needs to various personnel and vendors
-Assist story producers and editors with technical issues
-Work with Production team to ensure all information from the field is being communicated to the Post-Production team in a timely, concise way
-Manage and track deliverables
