The Role:
The ViacomCBS Short Form and Digital Production Group is seeking freelance line producers in Los Angeles for upcoming project-based opportunities. Candidates must be extremely seasoned physical production experts with the ability to produce projects both large and small in collaboration with multiple creative partners. Extensive experience producing commercial promos, image campaigns, still photography (key art, gallery, unit photography), digital web series, and linear extension content is a must. Applicants should demonstrate strong leadership, good judgment, initiative, and teamwork. The Line Producer must be able to juggle multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks with a focus on organization and attention to detail. Candidates should always keep an eye on the bottom line while seeking efficiencies and implementing cost saving measures. Candidates must be a continuous promoter and supporter of diversity, inclusion, and equity in the workplace.
Job Responsibilities:
• Creates and implements highly effective production plans for physical production, motion and still, while collaborating with creative producers, project managers, directors, and executives
• Generates individual production budget estimates and manages working budget and wrap
• Provides input and feedback in all phases of production to ensure that the creative vision can be delivered and produced successfully while meeting operational goals, financial targets, with desired production value
• Oversees COVID protocols and planning including implementation of testing and on set safety measures.
• Hires, negotiates, and clearly defines rates and working conditions to freelance personnel: Directors, ADs, Production Designers, Art Directors, DPs, Still Photographers, Costume Designers, Make-Up, Grip & Electric, Production Dept, Talent, etc.
• Source and/or vet 3rd party production companies, directors and still photographers
• Expert negotiator, capable of obtaining favorable deals and discounts with vendors
• Oversee any direct reports and provide mentorship, training, and feedback
• Works with cross functional partners: Business and Legal Affairs (BALA), Risk Management, Finance, Safety, Labor Relations (inclusive of all union entities: DGA, AFTRA, IA, and Teamsters), Production Technologies, Human Resources, MML, Music and Talent and Employment Law
• Consults with ViacomCBS legal teams and follows internal guidance and processes to limit liability exposure to ViacomCBS
• Communicates effectively to disseminate information to internal and external stake holders
• Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of freelance production teams and crew members
• Ensure that agreements, contracts, and releases are created and fully executed
• Oversees production finance: PC, P-Card and managers checks per project
• Oversees payroll of freelancers and ensures labor law is followed.
• Maintains, seeks, and supports a diverse workforce and vendor pool
• Archives materials and information per SFPG procedures on shared drive
• Fulfill other duties and tasks as requested by supervisor
Qualifications:
• BA/BS Degree preferred
• Ability to work in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Gifted collaborator and negotiator
• Deep technical knowledge of electronic film making process
• Professional, self-motivated, results oriented with a “can do” roll up sleeves attitude
• Must be able to travel, mainly domestically, some international possible
• 6-8 Years + physical production management experience
• Able to respond after business hours to urgent and timely issues
• Maintain confidential information
• Inquisitive and willing to continue learning
• Able to look at improving standard operating procedures and internal processes
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office, Showbiz and Movie Magic budgeting, EP Payroll, with ability become proficient in OneDrive, Ariba, Concur, and Market
• Willingness to take calculated risks and think outside of the box while communicating intentions to stakeholders.
