Job Summary/Description:
**** News 10, the award-winning dominant number-one station in Central Texas is seeking a morning news anchor. We are looking for an aggressive anchor who is passionate about covering local news and weather. The successful candidate should be an energetic “morning person” who can give viewers something to look forward to in the mornings. We need someone who can solo-anchor when necessary for several hours and serve as an executive producer during the overnight hours. We are a newsroom that values creativity, hard work, and enterprise hard news story ideas. We seek an anchor who will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the newsroom, be a leader and mentor to team members, and be a researcher who will assist in developing enterprise and investigative content.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Anchoring at least 2.5 hours of news a day
- Serving in a leadership role, assisting in overnight editorial decisions
- Collaborating and assisting show producers with the acquisition, treatment, and writing of news content
- Researching, gathering, shooting, writing, and editing news stories for on-air and online
- Completing regular franchises or special investigative reports
- Writing in a clear, concise, conversational manner
- Possessing excellent interview and conversational writing/presentation skills
- Reporting “live” on the scene during breaking news or weather
- Developing and maintaining sources of information
- Demonstrating sound news judgment
- Mentoring other Team members
- Utilizing non-linear editing equipment
- Enterprising hard-news, research-driven stories under tight deadlines
- Participating in story selection meetings
- Attending/hosting/speaking at schools, and community events
- Posting and regularly updating stories and other material on the web and social ***
- Interacting with viewers on social *** , including a regular presence on Facebook Live
- Following clothing and appearance guidelines set by news management
- Learning a broad and working knowledge of the viewing area, including people, places, things, and history
- Producing and anchoring at least 15-30 minutes a day on OTT from the “****tra” studio
- Performing other job-related duties as assigned
- Meeting tight deadlines and working well under pressure
- Maintaining professional and ethical conduct in the station and in the community
- Maintaining a positive work atmosphere
- Staying current with national and local news/weather
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must have anchored at a local or network television station for at least one year
- Bachelor degree in journalism or related field is preferred
- Experience with ENPS and Edius editing is a plus
