BIG PICTURE:
We are looking for an Assistant Director who can help us manage the production of our short cinematic viral videos! The ideal candidate will have experience handling the logistics of running an efficient set during production. This person will work hand in hand with the pre-production team and Director to develop call sheets, manage the schedule on-set and ensure all necessary shots are completed on time. Strong organization and unwavering attention to detail is a must. This position often requires working long hours including nights and weekends. HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME:
Supporting the crew to ensure they stay on time with the projected schedule
Breaking down the script and planning for efficiency on set
Creating solutions under pressure when unexpected things happen on set
Finding efficiencies on set that can help the crew stay on schedule
Acting as primary contact for actors
Communicating directors needs to team and ensure those needs are completed
Overseeing set resets
Ensuring equipment is returned following productions
Confirming late crew/actors and providing weekly lists to Production Sr Manager
Creating equipment lists with input from Director
Performing actors wrap procedure with crew Security
Advising Production Assistants when talent is needed
Ensuring the general safety on set

WHAT YOU HAVE:
2+ years of experience in pre-production cycle within the entertainment industry
Proficient with Excel, Google Sheets, and Docs; Monday.com and Skype experience a plus
Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team
Strong attention to detail, interpersonal, and communication skills
Flexibility to work extended hours and/or weekends to meet deadlines
Ability to enforce the schedule in a kind and professional manner

Job Description

The Director of EHS will be assigned feature productions to ensure overall compliance with all applicable company, federal, state, local and/or international environmental, occupational safety and health policies, rules, and regulations. Additionally, the Director of EHS will provide guidance and support to fellow EHS Managers as they encounter difficulties in their own feature safety oversight.

Implement, maintain, and develop appropriate safety programs, (e.g., Injury and Illness Prevention Program) policies, and procedures as necessary to ensure a safe and healthful work environment for all employees and guests of the productions.
Communicate with Production Executives, Production Management, Cast, Crew to ensure that all EHS expectations are being met.
Establish, administer, and enforce a program of safe practices for all production personnel.
Ensure appropriate pre-lease inspections are conducted for all potential production spaces and resolve any identified EHS issues.
Conduct a review/breakdown of each script on their assigned film to identify potential EHS issues (e.g., special effects, stunts, use of props, unusual activities, and hazardous locations).
Participate and often attend each production's tech scout and production meeting, as necessary, to understand scheduled production activities and provide guidance for any safety issues.
Prepare a location safety memo, as required, to inform the production employees of general location safety issues as well as specific location safety concerns.
Establish and implement procedures for proper hazardous waste accumulation and disposal following company policies.
Assist the production in following company's hazardous waste procedure and that manifests are collected and submitted in a timely manner.
Facilitate and/or conduct EHS testing of any location that presents potential EHS hazards (e.g., testing water quality, air quality, coordinating abatement and/or encapsulation of areas or materials).
Attend stunt rehearsals and special effect tests to provide input from the EHS perspective and be on set during the shooting of these stunts and effects, as necessary.
Provide education and safety training to production crew, supervisors and management in safety awareness, safe work practices, documentation requirements, and general regulatory compliance, as necessary.
Establish a safety committee on productions lasting longer than one year in duration, or when governmental regulations require a committee.
Provide EHS equipment or instruments, when applicable, to assist in compliance of EHS laws and programs. If equipment or instruments are not available, provide contacts where equipment can be procured.
Discuss the injury and illness paperwork process with the designated production contact and production medics to ensure forms are completed properly.
Conduct investigations of all accidents, incidents, significant events, and emergencies promptly in accordance with company policies and applicable laws and regulations.
Review Injury and Illness log to ensure that all cases are being properly entered into the Benchmark ESG GenSuite software program and follow-up is being entered and closure verifications are being done.
Review Benchmark ESG GenSuite Audits, Events and Inspections to ensure that they are being properly entered and that all findings are resolved in a timely manner.
Review Injury and Illness log data to identify trends and recommend program development and/or training to aid in reduction of workers' compensation claims.
Report promptly to company management any serious injury or incident that triggers federal, state, and/or local reporting regulations informing them of the details of the event and schedule of follow-up activity.
On cases reportable to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or other regulatory agencies, work with Production Management, production representatives and regulatory agency to resolve identified safety issues.
Review investigations of accidents, incidents, significant events and emergencies conducted by production to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws and regulations. Advise production of changes to prevent recurrence.
Ensure loaned equipment issued to productions are tracked and that equipment is returned or replaced promptly.
On international productions where an outside safety advisor has been engaged, work with the locally hired safety representative to ensure that all company policies and procedures are adhered to.
Assist in creating injury and illness data for staff and executive meetings.
Seek and maintain applicable training to ensure they are current in personal certifications or achieve additional certifications that are useful for advising the production on safety related matters.
Attend and participate in industry related meetings (i.e., AMPTP, SAFFE) and report information from the meetings back to fellow safety team members.
Work with EHS S.V.P. to establish personal and departmental goals.
Work with the EHS S.V.P. and Managers to ensure consistent application of company policies across all productions and evaluate whether these policies are effective.
Actively participate in the weekly EHS departmental meetings and be prepared to discuss issues related to the group.
Interface with outside regulatory agencies as required (e.g., Fire Department, OSHA representatives).
Participate in the ongoing review of existing EHS programs and creation of new programs, policies, procedures, guidelines, and bulletins, as needed.
Represent *** Universal to external professional organizations, peers and employees in a professional manner.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Minimum 5 years experience in EHS or relevant safety experience.
Professional certifications, such as ASP, CSP, CIH, OHST, CHMM, is preferred
Strong computer skills (proficient in MS Word and Excel, Adobe; knowledgeable in MS Access or other database software)
Self-starter with strong project management and leadership skills
Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
Must be able to interact with all levels of employees and management
Good working knowledge of OSHA regulations, industrial hygiene practices, fire department codes, stunt and special effects operations.
