****-TV, the *** -owned *** affiliate in San Diegois seeking an experienced newscast producer who wants to take on a leadership role to oversee our newscast production and news-gathering efforts on weekends. As the Weekend Supervising Producer, you will collaborate with news managers, news producers, directors, editors, photographers, reporters and anchors on the overall content and flow of our weekend news product - both linear and non-linear. You will take an active role in determining content, assigning staff, and helping the weekend team create engaging newscasts with memorable moments. This position will also produce newscasts during the weeknights, ensuring high-quality productions that showcase the news of the day and delivers interesting and engaging content to the public. The supervising producer also will regularly work on special projects, such as half-hour special programs and content for *** 8+, our 24/7 live stream platform.

The supervising producer must be creative, have a strong editorial voice and have the interpersonal skills to collaborate with others to ensure newscasts are executed clearly on air, are relevant to current events and meet audience preferences. This role will skillfully use social *** and digital tools to research, discover, write, edit, and produce content for the newscast and will work closely with the digital team to execute the weekend digital plan. The supervision producer must have a strong understanding of AP Style writing, broadcast production techniques, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Create, write, and edit content for newscasts.
• Work with other show producers, on-air talent, and news management, to create new content and showcase content in unique ways. Work with digital team to highlight digital content on air, making sure this content is being properly showcased inside all newscasts.
• Look for opportunities to create original content. Work with reporters and anchors and MSJ's to enhance their daily stories with graphics and production techniques that will help tell the story in more visual and compelling way.
• Collaborate with the newsroom managers on developing news stories and planning; pitch and write/produce stories on-air news coverage and online platforms.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field or equivalent experience required
• Must be creative and a forward-thinker and have excellent news judgment.
• Candidate should be able to write compelling copy that is clear and concise and come to work every day with a vision for his/her newscast.

Job Summary/Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION
*** 5 Atlanta is seeking a highly motivated News Producer. The Producer gathers news and information for newscasts and plays an active role in deciding newscast content, how stories are presented, and where they will be placed within the newscasts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Line produces assigned newscast, and fills in on other newscasts when necessary.
• Line produces unscheduled news coverage as needed. Assigns and supervises associate producers.
• Prepares newscast rundowns.
• Utilizes a variety of storytelling techniques, devices and studio stage locations to showcase news content in the most compelling and appropriate manner possible.
• Builds graphic elements for use in the newscasts.
• Collaborates with production staff to execute live newscasts and to develop compelling presentations of newscast content.
• Discusses story angles and newscast content with news managers, reporters and assignment editors.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Computer literacy

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred. Two years of experience producing television newscasts for broadcast on a commercial television station.

APs make sure all video elements are prepared properly for air and that *** source records include accurate details. They work in the front row of the control room to communicate the status of video elements and ensure best elements are available quickly.

Your Qualifications & Experience...

• Two years as an AP, writer/producer or producer in local news, cable or at the network level.
• Must have strong news awareness and production skills, the desire to work in a 24-hour newsroom environment and the ability to react quickly and calmly to breaking news situations.
• The candidate must be able to handle themselves professionally in changing and challenging situations and be able to react quickly under duress.
• Knowledge of iNews is extremely beneficial.
• Understanding of graphics, social *** and non-linear production is essential.
• Ideal candidate must be aggressive and be able to adapt to changing technology, demonstrate strong editorial judgment and be willing to work whenever needed.
• Candidates must be extremely flexible and willing to support breaking news and coverage needs in all day parts.
• Four-year degree or commensurate work experience.
