As a Sustainable Sourcing Manager - Polymers, you will play a critical role in driving our company's commitment to sustainability by identifying, evaluating, and sourcing sustainable materials and suppliers. You will work closely with our cross-functional product development teams to integrate sustainability considerations into our sourcing strategies and decision-making processes. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to source eco-friendly polymers, fostering relationships with suppliers, and ensuring adherence to our sustainability goals. Your expertise and dedication will be crucial in supporting our commitment to reducing the environmental impact of our products through responsible sourcing practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and identify sustainable polymers and suppliers that align with our company's environmental goals and product needs across multiple categories (toys, dolls, plush, collectibles, etc.)
- Develop and drive sustainable material implementation strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
- Alongside sourcing colleagues, collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product material requirements, allowing for the ideal selection of sustainable alternatives.
- Conduct thorough assessments of supplier capabilities, performance, and sustainability credentials to ensure adherence to our ethical and environmental standards.
- Monitor market trends and developments in the sustainable polymer field, staying informed about new technologies and advancements in both materials and processes.
- Collaborate with the internal sustainability team to track and report key performance indicators related to sustainable polymer sourcing as they contribute to the company's overall sustainability initiatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- 5+ years of proven experience in the polymer industry, material sourcing, supply chain, or a related field.
- Comprehensive knowledge of sustainable polymer materials, related production processes, and their environmental impact.
- Familiarity with industry certifications, standards, and regulations related to sustainable sourcing and environmental sustainability.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers based on transparency and mutual sustainability goals.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset focused on achieving sustainable procurement objectives.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Passion for sustainability and a deep commitment to reducing environmental impact through responsible sourcing practices.
Preferred Requirements:
- Master's degree (or higher) in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
The position is on-site in Kissimmee, Florida. The expectation is to be in the office 4 days a week, Monday through Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.
