Job Description: Line Producer
Position Summary
Line Producers are responsible for the overall planning, implementation, production, management and tracking of the personnel, project and/or projects assigned to them.
Reporting Structure
Line Producers report directly to the EIC
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises:
Production Managers
Co-Manages:
Production Coordinators (with Production Managers)
Production staff and crew, to the extent that policies and procedures are communicated and enforced along with structuring deals and communicating start and end dates
Collaboration with Showrunner on all aspects of production
Functions and Responsibilities
Manage day to day physical and financial aspects of all productions assigned to their oversight.
Creation and oversight of Production Calendars for Series and Specials as needed. Ensure that updates are rolled into the Master Calendar regularly by the Department Coordinator.
Ensure Scheduling of all production-related kick-off meetings
Supervise Production Management personnel across all assigned projects
Recruit and present other staff and crew for review and approval as needed.
Maintain Staffing Grids for assigned projects
General oversight of Project-related Crew
Project-related Equipment planning with Equipment Manager
Security preparedness and meetings for all projects as needed.
Negotiation of vendor, location and/or other deals as required by production
Ensure Distribution of communications regarding project-related information for all relevant departments
Billback management
Maintain budget trackers, calendars (Waterfall and Google) and unit tracker grids. Report weekly to EIC.
Working with finance to ensure that Cost Reports and GLs are up to date and reconcile against the tracker. Create cost reports for network
Manage insurance acquisition and claims
Oversight of any and all incident reports and ensuring the process is followed
Hire BTL Staff and secure Deal memos
Review credits before they go to EIC
Communicate legal or insurance issues to EIC
Ensure productions comply with Eastern policies and that all handbooks are distributed to new personnel
Closing out series - including final budget tracker, cost report, GL and calendars, presenting all final asset inventories, delivery and organization of all paperwork and files in their original format (ie. in addition to any PDFs)
Work closely with both front end and post production to ensure productions stay on schedule and budget. Report any exposures to the EIC
Communicate with Network Production Management contacts on day to day production issues (excluding defending budgets, cost reports or billbacks or larger issues)
Funnel EP questions/requests through the EIC
Provide weekly production updates to the EIC
Other duties as available and assigned
