Chapman University/Dodge College of Film & Media Arts is seeking a dynamic, outgoing Career & Industry Relations Manager to connect fast-rising film school students with Hollywood. You'll work with an energetic team, guided by our Director of Industry Relations. The Manager will grow internships & job opportunities, help to expand our industry outreach, co-create workshops, panels & seminars for students and alumni. Entertainment industry experience and a passion for working with the next generation of aspiring and emerging talent a must! 

Develop and Implement Strategies to Create Employment and Networking Opportunities for Dodge College Students and Alumni
• With a go-getter attitude, cultivate relationships with industry recruiters, production executives, Chapman Alumni, and other industry professionals to develop internship and job opportunities, as well as supporting career development programming.
• Through continuous outreach and networking, generate new leads, manage, and expand relationships with industry contacts, agencies, studios, production companies etc.
• Develop communication strategies to impact a diverse set of internal and external audiences.
• Partner with faculty, dean, Career and Professional Development to design and execute a set of comprehensive and effective career curricula, ensuring that students are employer-ready in the competitive recruiting environment.
• Create and maintain special expanded program career and alumni services such as specialized coaching programs, workshops covering careers, festivals, distribution, and networking events.
• In collaboration with the Careers and Industry Relations team, create a schedule of quality events and workshop series throughout the year, collaborating with the CER team to execute to a high level.
• Through contacts in the entertainment industry, facilitate bringing guests to campus to connect with students.
• Establish and maintain a database of potential employers, career opportunities, students, about-to-graduate students, and recent graduates to notify them of such opportunities.
• Collaborate with DCFMA staff and faculty on opportunities to partner with organizations and companies on new initiatives for funding, training, career development.
• In collaboration with the Director of Administrative Operations, develop, implement, and monitor career workshops budget.
• Working with the Communications and External Relations team, provide consistent information and updates to ensure the regular production of valuable and engaging content for the website and social media platforms.
• Participate in campus programming including Orientation, Parent Spring Summit, Commencement, Career Fairs
• Regularly update the dean and college leadership on the status of projects.

Supervise the Office of Careers and Industry Relations Staff
• Provide direction and oversight for staff duties, ensuring a high quality of execution within specified deadlines.
• Assign duties, projects, and responsibilities, delegating as needed.
• Using conflict management, deal with complex degrees of problem-solving.
• Empower staff to make decisions at the appropriate level for the position.
• Continually review communications and procedures, managing information sharing to ensure efficiency and successful teamwork.
• Oversee employee workflow, prioritization, and goal setting. Meet regularly with staff to provide feedback, evaluate progress, and re-evaluate goals.
• Provide regular and ongoing opportunities for performance feedback, through one-on-one meetings and formal performance appraisals.
• Participate in department and campus-wide meetings to facilitate communication and ensure consistency between teams and with overall DCFMA vision.
• Participate in the recruitment and selection of new hire employees within the DCFMA department, including the Communications and External Relations team, in compliance with Human Resources policies.
• Provide structured onboarding and training for new hires.
• Contribute to All Staff Meetings by presenting updates to entire DCFMA staff.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination in education and experience.
• Ability to effectively manage the overall operations of Career and Industry Relations.
• Demonstrated ability to initiate and sustain contacts with industry personnel, agencies, guilds, and organizations.
• Work with a sense of urgency and pro-activeness.
• Demonstrated ability to be resourceful and creative to accomplish goals and objectives.
• Ability to exercise high level of initiative and work independently.
• Self-motivated and proactive in carrying out research and solving problems.
• Demonstrated commitment to working in a collaborative, customer service environment.
• Ability to maintain careful attention to detail and accuracy while working on multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels both inside and outside of the university.
• Ability to use tact and diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Comfortable with web based & social media platforms.
• Demonstrated knowledge of career resources, job search strategies and technologies, and labor market and employment trends relating to careers in film and media arts.
• Strong public speaking ability, and excellent writing and editing skills both to inform and influence across digital and traditional print media.
• Demonstrated ability to provide thoughtful, developmental career coaching in one-on-one, small, and large group settings; strong leadership, coaching/advising skills are required.
• Ability to develop strong relationships with a wide variety of constituents, including employers and external partners like donors, alumni, and parents, students, faculty, staff, and senior leadership.
• Communicate effectively and with influence.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Desired Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience related to the role.
• Experience in talent acquisition, talent agency/management, project management, marketing.
• Ability to carry out tasks and prioritize, when faced with interruptions, distractions, and a fluctuating workload.
• Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.
• Ability to effectively manage departmental budget.
• Ability to think strategically and develop new programs to address needs of stakeholders.
