Searchlight Television is seeking an Assistant who will be an exceptional addition to the development team. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented individual capable of consistently achieving results in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. The Development Assistant position will be responsible for covering phones, scheduling, expenses and other admin duties for Searchlight TV's VP, Development. In addition, this individual will provide project support and research as part of the creative development process.
Responsibilities:
- Manage calendar for VP, Development, including scheduling and confirming appointments with both internal and external participants.
- Organize heavy calendar scheduling, facilitate heavy email correspondence, submit expense reports, maintain purchasing requests for supplies.
- Answer phones and roll calls - generate a comprehensive understanding of the industry and agency landscape.
- Book and coordinate all travel logistics for VP and talent (as required).
- Order and maintain office supplies and food stocks for department (as required).
- Develop and maintain a thorough familiarity with all projects occurring within the department.
- Read scripts and writing samples and provide feedback on quality and strengths/weaknesses of material.
- Attend staff and creative meetings, document agenda items, and take notes.
- Perform research on artists, as required.
- Manage the correct handling of unsolicited material/submission and inquiries.
- Greet guests arriving at the office and manage event coordination, as required.
- Build presentations and/or sizzle reels and manage special projects (as required)
- Organize and maintain department grids and files
Basic Qualifications:
- 1+ years' experience at a Studio, Production Company, Literary Agency, or Talent Agency.
- Enthusiasm for learning the development function with a passion for TV and film.
- Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
- Proactive problem-solver.
- Ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, make decisions, and change course of action quickly.
- Detail oriented with the ability to work well and maintain professionalism under pressure.
- Exceptional organizational and follow-through skills.
- Ability to appropriately work with confidential information.
- Positive attitude and the ability to be proactive, resourceful, and flexible.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $52,400 to $70,200 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
